1. Winnibigoshish (Winnie) |
|

| Lake Winnie, the walleye capital of Itasca County, is a
58,544-acre lake located in the southwest corner of the county.
Lake Winnie has a maximum depth of 65 feet and an average depth of
15 feet. The lake is easily accessible by using one of the 8 boat
landings on the lake or by using any of the 5 landings on Cut Foot
Sioux, a small 2800-acre lake attached to Winnie to the northeast.
Also, surrounding the lake is national forest with numerous
campgrounds. |

| 2. Bowstring |

| Bowstring Lake is located in western Itasca County. It is a
lake of 9,220 acres with 3 boat landings. Bowstring has a maximum
depth of 30 feet with an average of 15 feet. The lake is known for
its walleyes, northern, and crappies.

| 3. Jessie |
|
| Jessie Lake is also located in western Itasca County. It
is a 1,753-acre lake located within the Chippewa National
Forest that produces some nice 2 to 3 pound walleyes along
with some nice northern and crappies averaging ¾ pounds. The
lake averages a depth of 22 feet with the deepest point
reaching 42 feet. |

| 4. Round |
|
| Round Lake is a 2,828-acre lake located within the
Chippewa National Forest in western Itasca County. Maximum
depth is 24 feet with an average of 12 feet. These depths
combined with the dark water lead to warmer spring water and a
great fishing opener. Round is well known for its jumbo perch
and good walleye fishing. |

| 5. Island |
|
| Island Lake is a 3,088-acre lake located in the northwest
corner of Itasca County. The lake has an excellent habitat for its
walleye population. However, fishing the lake on fishing opener is
not recommended. Memorial weekend through June are a better bet.
The lake has an average depth of 35 feet with an average of 17
feet. |
